Dorepoll Herefords

HISTORY

From our outset our aim has been to produce functional, practical cattle adaptable to their environment and current market trends.Over the years we have selectively culled from the herd to keep us where we believed the market was taking us. Replacements have been carefully selected from herds which meet our specific breeding criteria.

This has led to places throughout Great Britain and Ireland and to the USA and Canada in more recent years. We are constantly loking for opportunities to access new and exciting and Hereford genetics from around the world that will benefit our breeding programmes

Herd Sire: Misters 39G Universe
(Big T Shereese x GH Galaxy 39G)

The first Herefords at Loughanhill in 1974. Our first bull, Windycote 1 Knighthood, bred by the late Frank Gittoes, came out of the Edinburgh bull sales in 1978. During the 1980's the Canadian influence was introduced. Initially by British-bred progeny and then by the use of bulls such as REmitall Monarch and PRL 930K Riser. Our first imported bull came in the form of FB 67K Banner 40R.

Through the 90's our importations continued of both bulls and females. These included Harvie Zoom, Shades-Mills Show-Off and Misters 39G Universe. We will continue our search for new and exciting genetics from around the world and will use them in our herd top keep satisfying market demands.
