‘Carier’ slurry separator Korea bound

Co Antrim-based Linton Ag-Industrial Ltd has notched up a major export breakthrough for its ‘Carier’ slurry separation system with the securing of an order from a leading agricultural co-operative in South Korea. The machine has been manufactured entirely in Northern Ireland |

“We have just completed the manufacturing of the actual separator, which will be able to handle up to 3,000 gallons of slurry per hour,” company managing director Trevor Linton told farm-link. “The gantry is now under construction which means that we should be able to ship the completed unit in about a fortnight.” The system is destined for the island of Jeju, which lies to the south of the Korean peninsula. It takes in an area approximately the size of County Down, is a traditional livestock production centre but also has a growing tourist industry. The farm on which the Carier system will be based is home to a herd of some 1200 cattle. “Farmers on the island want to make best use of their slurry while, at the same time, reducing odours which tourists may find offensive,” explained Trevor Linton. “All of this can be achieved through an efficient separation process with the solids composted and sold as a value-added fertiliser to golf courses and other outdoor amenity centres.” The Carier system has been purchased by the Isodore Development Association, a co-operative set up on Jeju to help develop the infrastructure of the island’s farming industry. Profits made by the farmers aligned to the co-operative are then re- invested throughout the island to improve, education, health care and of course, the future prospects for agriculture. |
