 WELSHPOOL PEDIGREE SUFFOLK SALE

FRIDAY  NOVEMBER 26 2004
 

The annual show and sale of pedigree Suffolk female sheep was held on Friday 26th November 2004 on behalf of the Shropshire and Montgomery Area Suffolk Club at Welshpool Smithfield.

This event was kindly sponsored by Nigel Farr Farm Services and GO Davies (Westbury) Ltd.

The judge, Mr Andrew Evans Trefeglwys had a difficult task to place the fine show of sheep presented and awarded champion female to a ewe lamb bred by local breeders Mr and Mrs John Pryce, Prenafal, Trefnanney.  This ewe lamb was sired by Whitestone Wizard and the dam Harpercroft Tyson. 

The following prizes were awarded:-

Class 1 -           Aged Ewe

First place was awarded to Mr & Mrs J Pryce, Prenafal, selling for 480gns to Messrs DJ Davies & Co., Cwmcynon, Llandyssul

Second and third was given to LC Davies & Son, Lower Farm, Rushton selling for 200gns and 140gns, and purchased by Mr W Lewis, Tynllwyn and Mr AC Jones, Tanyffordd, Machynlleth respectively.

Class 2 -           Yearling Ewe

First and res champion was awarded to RB & PJ Draper, Ensdon House, Montford Bridge. (sire Ensdon Gladiator - dam Stockton Simply the Best) with Mr W Lewis, Tynllwyn, Colwyn Bay purchasing for 480gns and scanned with twin lambs.

Second to Mr & Mrs J Pryce, Prenafal selling for 440gns to Messrs DJ Davies & Co., Llandyssul.

Third to J Evans, Lower Ffrydd, Caersws selling for 250gns to Mr AG Thomas, Dolgwm Uchaf, Llanybyther.

Class 3 -           Ewe Lamb

First and champion awarded to Mr and Mrs John Pryce, Prenafal.

Second to Mr and Mrs John Pryce.

The Suffolk in-lamb ewes averaged £177.71 per head and ewe lambs averaged £110.73 per head.
