Longtown Primestock Sale - Tuesday December 07 b2004 The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward 1,479 prime lambs and cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale on Tuesday 7th December, 2004. The 1,142 prime lambs peaked at £50.80 for Suffolks from Catslackburn, Yarrow, others to £50.50 for Texels from Upper Mains, Annan. Export types remained sharp to sell, peaking at 115.7p for Cheviots from Murtholm, Langholm. Suffolk cross £49.80 Unity Farm; Cheviot Mule £47.80 Murtholm; Charollais £47 Brampton Fell; Hill Cheviot £44 Murtholm; Greyface £43 Low Stokoe; Blackface £40.50 Penpeugh; Swaledale £40 Side Farm; Herdwick £33.50 Carwath. The 223 lightweight euro lambs met a fast trade, peaking at £36 per head and 112.5p per kilo for Texels from Pennine View; Greyface £35.50 Westerhall; Blackface £33 Catslackburn, £32 Henderland; Herdwick £24 Carwath. A top quality show of 337 ewes and rams were scarcer and well above recent levels peaking at £59 and £58 for heavy Texel ewes from Oldfield Farm, Thurso.
