RUAS HONOURS FOR 2003
The Royal Ulster Agricultural Society (RUAS) have recently awarded Honorary Life Membership to former Chief Executive, Bill Yarr and his wife Jo. Mr Yarr had been the Chief Executive of the RUAS for 25 years and retired in June 2003.

William McAuley from Ballyclare, was also honoured, receiving the Long Service Award. The Long Service Award recognises individuals commitment to agriculture. William has been working on Samuel Agnew's farm for over 45 years and it was Samuel who nominated William for the award.

Michael Guest, Chief Executive, RUAS commented, "it was an honour and a delight to present all of the awards. Bill Yarr has guided the Society though exciting and challenging times over his 25 years of service and in recognition of this we at the RUAS feel he is more than deserved of this accolade. William McAuley is an inspiration to young farmers and farm workers, in an ever changing agricultural climate, William has stayed faithful the passion of farming for more than 45 years."

The awards were presented on Friday 19 December 2003 at the RUAS annual Council Christmas lunch.
